FAQ FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
| a. |
What are the requirements to receive training from STTU? |
Any US or coalition military unit, governmental or law enforcement agency can host an STTU training program.
| b. |
Do you have programs that an individual can attend? |
Not at this time. All STTU training is done under contract to a host agency and geared towards team training. The only way individuals can attend STTU programs is if they are a guest of the host agency or military unit.
| c. |
Does STTU train civilians? |
Not usually. All STTU training is geared towards government agencies and military units. However, training programs can be structured for civilian contractors, high-risk security teams, and former military and law enforcement personnel currently committed to the war on terrorism

| d. |
Can civilians purchase the STTU books? |
Yes. See the order form on the website or order by credit card through www.Amazon.com
| e. |
Where is your training facility? |
Since STTU is structured as an MTT, we no longer maintain a permanent training facility. Most training is done on military or governmental facilities, or arrangements are made with local shooting ranges and training facilities suitable for the required training.
| f. |
What is the cost of STTU training? |
Cost is dictated by the location; type of program; length of program; number of instructors; and number of trainees. STTU programs can run from a few days to several weeks depending on the operational requirements of the host agency. A cost breakdown will be submitted with each formal training proposal.
| g. |
What equipment do I need for the training? |
The simple answer is, everything you would carry on a tactical operation.
Since most STTU programs are for operational teams, training will be structured to utilize the equipment organic to the host group. However, STTU will also supply required equipment lists and ammunition requirements with each formal training proposal.

Apart from training, does STTU offer lectures suitable for conferences? |
Yes. STTU has several pre-packaged lecture programs suitable for LE and military training seminars and conferences. These programs range from 1 to 4 hours and can be linked to make a longer training program. All programs are accompanied with high impact audio-visuals and graphics to maximize the learning process. Program attendance is unlimited and we have had up to 300 attendees at one of these lecture programs, all of which came away with a productive learning experience.

OFFICIAL TRAINING REQUESTS
Even though STTU has numerous pre-packaged programs with carefully structured training progressions, each program is further modified to meet the training and operational needs of the host team or agency. Programs are also modified to suit local terrain, structures and climatic conditions.
After receiving a formal training request, STTU will respond with a preliminary course outline, day-planner, and essential training requirements. STTU staff will then enter into a dialog with the host agency training staff to modify the program to meet mission-specific operational and training requirements. Once the final draft of the course outline has been approved STTU will submit a cost breakdown and budget for the program.
To help us in this process, please consider the following: |
| 1. |
Is this request for OFFICIAL or PERSONAL interest? |
Because of the volume of communications received at STTU, we can only respond to OFFICIAL training requests from personnel authorize to contract training services or specifically tasked with researching training for their team or agency. Please make initial requests in writing on official letterhead or by email to STTUHQ@aol.com
| 2. |
What type of training are you requesting? |
STTU offers over a dozen different tactical programs with numerous optional additions and modules to each program, so please be as specific as possible in your request. Please specify the type of program, subjects required, number of trainees, and number of training days.
| 3. |
How many members on your team? |
Even though individual skills are taught and emphasized in STTU programs, most training is geared toward the needs of special response teams or military units operating as a cohesive group. However, programs such as advanced firearms training, CQB, CQS, the sniper school and various lecture programs do cater to the needs of the individual. The number of trainees will have a direct affect on the length of the program and number of STTU instructors required to supervise the training.
| 4. |
Do you have access to a facility suitable for the requested training? |
Effective tactical training does not require elaborate training facilities, however, there is still a need for suitable combat shooting ranges and training structures. In most cases, local resources such as combat pistol ranges, rifle ranges and rappel towers can be utilized. STTU can then advise on how to build targets and best modify the available facilities to suit the intended training needs.
| 5. |
Is the training dangerous? |
STTU programs are structured with Safety as a priority, and STTU instructors have a long history of safe and effective training without serious injury. However, it must be clearly understood that effective tactical training requires an element of realism, and with realism comes added risk. CQB training carries with it an expectation of some scrapes and bruises, just as rappel training carries a potential for falls and impact injuries. Similarly, explosive breaching carries with it the danger of burns and scraps, just as diving and maritime operations have the inherent potential for drowning.
Since all tactical weapons training carries the potential for serious injury or death, considerable responsibility is placed on the trainees to train in a safe and professional manner. In addition to the STTU instructors, all on-site trainees, team leaders and command personnel will be designated as safety officers and tasked with making the training a safe and productive experience.

Conclusion: |
Formal training proposals and informal requests for information must be made in a professional capacity and by an individual tasked or authorized to contract training services. Please be as specific as possible in your training requests and thanks again for your interest in STTU.
